World Down Syndrome Day 2020

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is celebrated annually on the 21 March. It is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The date for WDSD is
the 21st day of the 3rd month. People with Down syndrome are born with a
n extra copy, a
3
rd
chromosome 21.
To celebrate this, we have in the past few years, taken part by wearing odd socks to school which is one of the suggested fundraising initiatives on the
Down Syndrome Ireland website
.This year, of course, is so different, and if you still decide to celebrate the day, Juniors to 2nd Classes could design a pair of odd socks on the template given to them at the beginning of the school closure. Older pupils and any parents who wish to have a discussion about Down Syndrome could access some information on
