A European Bronze Medal for past pupil Mary

Ratheniska

We were honoured to have past pupil, Mary Mulhare, visit our school on Tuesday, 20th. Mary was a member of the Ireland Senior Women’s Cross Country Team who won bronze medals at the Spar European Cross Country Championships at La Mandria Park in Italy.

Congrats from all pupils and staff on such a great achievement!

Senior Crafters

Ratheniska

In the run up to Christmas, Senior Infants have been extremely busy, crafting, letter writing, decorating gingerbread cookies and setting up their Christmas tree. Happy faces are to be seen everywhere!

First Class Bakers!

Ratheniska

As an end of year treat, and as soon as Junior Infants vacated the kitchen on Tuesday, First Class got busy making some fairy buns. We learned all about the ingredients, the quantities and the equipment. Later, it was all worthwhile when we got to enjoy them in the afternoon!

Gingerbread people

Ratheniska

The day before the Christmas holidays is always a good day to make gingerbread men and gingerbread angels in Junior Infants especially when 6th class are ready and willing to help with the decorating! A fun-filled lesson for all!

Sock Snowmen

Ratheniska

The boys and girls in 3rd Class have been keeping warm during the current cold spell by being active and creative. They collected some socks, some rice, lots of imagination and got busy creating super snowmen!

Mrs Bréagáin’s Toyshop

Ratheniska

The children in First Class took a trip down memory lane recently to visit Mrs Bréagáin’s Toy Shop from long ago. It was fun to have a look back at some of the toys that children received from Santa Claus in years gone by. Thank you to Mr Fennelly for creating this beautiful Christmas window for all of us to see.

Stone Age Reports in 3rd

Ratheniska

Third class have been studying the Stone Age in history this term. We learned about different aspects of life in the Stone Age – food, clothing, homes, art, weapons and tools and even megalithic tombs. We looked at videos from Newgrange and read the story ‘Stone Age Boy’. We looked at cave paintings from The Stone Age too and created our own versions in art. We combined all the information we had learned with our report writing skills to produce these fact-filled projects. It took a lot of effort but we are delighted with our finished products !

1st Class Christmas Jumpers!

Ratheniska
