The sun came out, the sky was blue! So Junior Infants decided to explore the flora and fauna in Ratheniska. Having spotted, buttercups, daisies, dandelions and bluebells, we continued walking and found spiders’ webs, butterflies, several types of creepy crawlies and even a frog! After all that exploring it was time to enjoy the sunshine and have a picnic in the long grass!
Third class took advantage of the good weather recently and took to the sunny outdoors to explore light and investigate how shadows are formed!
Last week Fifth Class worked with Senior Infants on editing and re-drafting their wonderful stories, “On the Way Home”. We had a fantastic time sharing our ideas and listening to the finished stories. Congratulations on all the great teamwork!
On Thursday next, 24th May, the girls from 5th and 6th Classes will play against Castlecuffe in the Camogie Final in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise. We wish them well on the day. The game will commence at 4 o’clock and all are welcome. Support would be greatly appreciated!
Ireland’s only travelling cinema visited our school today , 15th May, travelling all the way from Loughrea. Three films were screened and it was a most enjoyable occasion for all. Thanks to the Board of Management for subsidising the event.
Third class had lots of fun creating these eggs and chicks lately. These colourful creations took quite a while to make but we think they were worth the wait, what do you think?
On Tuesday May 7th, we welcomed 31 eager and enthusiastic little boys and girls and their parents to our school for their Induction Day for Junior Infants 2013/2014. They set about exploring their new environment , played with the toys, showed off their artistic ability and hopefully enjoyed their first experience of “big school”. We look forward to meeting all of them and their parents again in September.
