PA Constitution

We were delighted to gift all the pupils in 6th class a graduation hoodie recently. We wish them well for their last few weeks in Ratheniska National school and all the best as they journey to Secondary schools.

On the 26th April the school celebrated Rainbow day. The PA were delighted to introduce this charity day to the school. LOFFA stands for Laois Offaly Families for Autism and supports many families and young adults with Autism. We are delighted to announce €230.60 was collected on the day. 

On the 20th April 2024 the boys and girls in 2nd class made their First Holy Communion. The PA hosted its annual Communion Party and it was a great success. The sun was shining and there was plenty of style around on the day. Many thanks to all the parents who helped out, decorated the hall and dropped off food. There was a great spread on the day and it gave the families and children time to catch up after the ceremony. 

Thank you to the GAA club for the use of the hall on the day and to Kristen Cakery and the Fitzgerald Family  for the delicious cakes.

The Ratheniska PA held a very successful Easter raffle which raised €3950 for the school and PA events. €1500 will go towards replacing ICT in Senior Infants and 3rd Class. The remainder will be for Annual PA activities.

The raffle was held in the GAA clubhouse on Easter Sunday morning. Congratulations to all the winners. 

The PA were delighted that the Easter Bunny was able to visit Ratheniska NS where every child got a chocolate treat. All the children were entered into a raffle for a class Easter hamper.

The PA were delighted to invite Santa to visit all the boys and girls in Ratheniska NS. Thank you to Stradbally Fire Services for helping him arrive in style and to Santa himself for making the long trip from the North Pole. Santa had a busy day in the school announcing the winners of the Christmas PA Art Competition and giving all the Children a Christmas Annual and a Class photo from the PA.

A Big Thank you to all the families of Ratheniska NS who supported our Christmas PATH collection. The response was great and we were delighted to welcome Jason and Gerry to the school to speak to the children about the work PATH does. They spoke about how they help about 100 families in Laois each week and deliver them hampers of food. They highlighted if anyone needed support or help they were only a phone call away.

Before the Halloween break we said goodbye to Mr. O’ Mahony. Éilish and Caroline presented him with a token of appreciation from the PA on his retirement. We would like to thank him for all his hard work, dedication, and contributions to the school over the years. Wishing you all the best on your future endeavours as you embark on the next chapter of your life.

We had a very successful Halloween Disco with lots of witches, monsters and skeletons on the night. It was great to see many parents also get into the spirit of Halloween and dress up. DJ Bren kept the children dancing all night long with tunes to suit all. A special Thank you to Brian and his family for another spooktacular event. The decorations get bigger and better every year. We would also like to thank the Hall Committee for kindly letting us use the facilities for the night. These events don’t run themselves and it takes many volunteers to help set up, man the tuck shop and clean up. Thanks to all who helped out.
