Rang 6 on Tour

6th Class enjoyed a great day out at the University of Limerick today, May 31st for their final school tour before they head off to secondary school. Throughout the day, they partook in land and water activities and when they stopped at the Barack Obama Plaza on the way home, they had the honour of meeting Declan Hannon, Limerick hurling team captain and winner of four All- Ireland Hurling medals to date.

Thank you to the team at UL and to Mr Conway, Ms. Begley and Mairéad for a great day out.

Camogie Champions 2023

The sun shone down on O’Moore Park today as our girls from Rang 5 and Rang 6 played out a hard-fought battle against The Rock NS in the Division 3 Camogie Shield final. Well done to each and ever one who played a part in bringing home the shield to Ráithín an Uisce. In her very well delivered speech as Gaeilge, Moya, the team captain thanked Mr. Conway,  Mr O’Mahony and Ms Dunne for their guidance along the way to the final.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Parents’ Association for hosting the post match celebrations in Portlaoise Plaza.

 

Characters!

During their Creative Arts classes in the last few weeks Rang 6 have been working hard creating characters from papier maché. Patience and perseverance was the name of the game and in the end the hard work paid off as we all got to admire the finished creations!

First Communion 2023

The boys and girls in Second Class celebrated their First Holy Communion on May 20th in the Church of the Holy Cross , Ratheniska. Fr Ciprian and Fr. Simon celebrated the Mass and the children were guided by Mrs O’Byrne and Norah O’Sullivan, their class teacher and SNA.

Fr Ciprian expressed his thanks to the readers, Jemma, Denise and Fiachra and to the choir who were directed by Ms. Dunne and Louise, the organist. Following the ceremony, the children and their families were invited to the GAA Clubhouse for refeshments hosted by the Parents’ Association.

Junior Gardeners

As the sun came out this week and the soil got warmer, Junior Infants decided that the pots and planters needed to be refreshed. We got together some pollinator plants and sowed them in the pots ready for any bees that may like to visit!

Tillage Farmers in Seniors!

After learning all about farming in class, Senior Infants decided to sow our own barley. We are so proud of the great job we did- see how much it has grown already!
