Memories of Rang 6

Ratheniska

As the boys and girls from Rang 6 prepare to move on to secondary school, Ms. Dunne, the staff and the wider school community would like to wish them well on their journey.

Go n-éirí an bóthar libh, a bhuachaillí agus a chailíní!

We hope you enjoy looking at some of their memories.

6th Class Graduation Mass

Ratheniska

The last week of school is always a memorable one for Rang 6 as they begin to close the chapter on their Primary School days. Together with Mr Conway, Ms. Dunne, Ms Spillane and Áine, the boys and girls went to Oughvale Woods in Stradbally on Monday, June 20th. They went for a walk in the woods and gathered together at the Mass Rock where Fr. Ciprian celebrated the Sacrament of the Eucharist. The beautiful singing from Sr. Aoife in such a peaceful and magical setting made the occasion  really special. Thank you to Shane Redmond, Harry’s Dad, for capturing  the stillness and beauty of the day.

Getting ready for the Scarecrow Festival!

Ratheniska

With the Scarecrow Festival in Durrow returning this year after the Covid-enforced absence, Mrs Dooley got to work with some of the children in Rang 1 to build two scarecrows for the event. With Mrs Dooley and Norah’s guidance, we can now confirm that they are safely in storage until the Scarecrow Festival begins in  Durrow on July 24th. Our very own Ratheniska scarecrows look forward to seeing you there!

Sports Day 2022

Ratheniska

We had a great day today at our annual much anticipated Sports Day. As well as the traditional sprints, sack races, and potato and spoon races, there were many more activities to enjoy!

Treat time in 3rd

Ratheniska

Rang 3 made wrap pizzas in groups recently as a treat for working very hard this term and earning 1.000 points as a class on their class reward programme.

Arty Seniors

Ratheniska

6th class paid a visit to Senior Infants today for a collaborative art class. We had so much fun drawing, cutting, sticking and painting but the best part was getting to know each other!

Ancient Egypt Experts

Ratheniska

In Third Class, we have been very busy learning about ancient Egypt. 🔹We researched our Ancient Egypt topics at home and in groups in school on iPads and in books. The topics were Architecture, Food and Clothes, Gods and Goddesses, Pharaohs, Mummies and the Afterlife & Inventions of the Ancient Egyptians! 🔹We presented our class projects to our neighbours in 2nd class who had lots of interesting questions! 🔹We created PowerPoints in groups during IT class with Miriam and presented these to our own class. 🔹Finally, we linked our topic with art and created our own Egyptian masks.

Class to 3K – 2022

Ratheniska

After several weeks of training, we all took to the road and the pitch today, June 9th, to run our annual 3K. All those from 3rd to 6th ran the full 3km while the Junior end of the school from Infants to 2nd ran 1km. Team spirits and camaraderie were high as everyone was encouraged to do their very best. From the oldest to the youngest, each and everyone crossed the finish line to cheers and rounds of applause.

Infants to 2nd were presented with certificates as a mark of their achievement while Ms. Dunne presented all the participants from 3rd to 6th with a school hoodie which we hope they will wear with pride!
