Senior Infants have been whisking up tasty treats in Pudding Lane Bakery during their Aistear Play Sessions this month. We have tried out various roles in the bakery including the baker, the waiters and the hungry customers!

RatheniskaComputer Classes continue for all the boys and girls from 3rd to 6th classes under the guidance of Ms Miriam Craven. These classes cover basic word processing in Rang 3 ,Powerpoints in Rang 4 and Excel and coding in Rang 5 and Rang 6.
Confirmation Preparation 2020
RatheniskaAll the boys and girls who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation attended their first practice in Portlaoise this week. They met with the pupils from The Heath, Educate Together and St. Francis schools who will also be receiving the sacrament on February 29th in SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise at 11.30 am.
Mini Jackson Pollocks!
RatheniskaIn Juniors this week, we attempted to replicate some of the fantastic artwork of the famous American artist, Jackson Pollock. We put on our aprons, watered down our paint and splattered our way to wonderful pieces of art which we then transformed into calendars for the year ahead!
Static in Second!
RatheniskaExperimenting with static electricity was on the agenda for 2nd Class last week. They rubbed balloons on their hair, stuck the balloons to different objects, rolled cans along the table with the balloons and even had a go at bending water! A great first-hand experience to demonstrate a complex concept!
New Year Gymnasts!
RatheniskaAs the 5th and 6th Classes set off to their swimming classes, 1st and 2nd classes took to the bars and beams to further develop the gymnastic skills they had started last year. They are delighted to be out of the classroom while learning something new at the same time!
Swimming into Term 2!
RatheniskaTerm 2 starts at 9.20 on January 6th! Rang 3 and Rang 4 will get the year off to a great start as they begin their swimming lessons in Portlaoise Leisure Centre on Monday mornings for the next 7 weeks. Rang 5 and Rang 6 will swim on Wednesdays for the same number of weeks. This will fulfil the Aquatic Strand of our P.E. Curriculum and is a great, energetic way to start off the new year!
