Partnering Children on their Developmental Journey

Goodbye to Grace.

Ratheniska

Following our festivities with the children today, all the staff gathered to say goodbye to Grace who has worked with us for the last 17 years. Grace has worked tirelessly week after week, year after year sweeping and mopping, scraping playdough, paint and much more from muddy floors, and every Monday, we arrived, as if by magic, to a clean and sparkling school. All we can say is “Thank you, Grace and best wishes from all the school community for the next chapter of your life.”

Halloween is coming!

Ratheniska

When we arrived to school on Monday, we were greeted by spooks, skeletons and ghouls galore which all appeared over the weekend thanks to the hard work and creativity of one of our parents, Brian, and his band of trusty helpers! It really got us all in the mood for the upcoming festival of Halloween. We know that all the boys and girls are missing  the annual Halloween Disco but we hope they are getting into the mood and getting their costumes ready to wear to school tomorrow. Thank you to Miss Stapleton for putting the video together.

And, of course, check back tomorrow evening to see what we will be getting up to!!

It’s that time of year again when we start to plan for Junior Infants 2021. Please click here for further details.

The Potion Lab!

Ratheniska

Senior Infants are busy this week integrating Maths into our Aistear Sessions. We have had lots of fun reading potion recipes and counting out the ingredients to make a witch’s brew. We even wrote our own recipes and have enough to make a spellbinding cookbook!

Maths Week 2020

Ratheniska

We celebrated Maths Week in various ways in all our classes this week. Junior Infants went in search of their number of the week which was number 2 while Rang 3  focussed on lines and angles Rang  5 incorporated Technology and Maths as they used the Skitch app on the ipads to create Maths quizzes in the school environment.

All agreed that Maths is definitely not just for the classroom!

Alien Invasion.

Ratheniska

First Class were very lucky on Friday to take part in a workshop with storyteller and illustrator, Paul Timoney. Paul video-called us and guided us in the creation of some fantastic alien creatures. We used cardboard, sticks, colours and lots of imagination.

Thank you to Paul and Laois Libraries for organising this virtual event. We had lots of fun.

Architecture in 3rd

Ratheniska

3rd class set about exploring exploring interesting pieces of architecture around the world recently. They incorporated Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) into their art class and came up with some wonderful constructions.

Junior Spooks!

Ratheniska

As the Halloween break is fast approaching, the boys and girls in Junior Infants are getting in the mood during their Aistear playtime in the morning. They are busy making potions in the Potion Lab, constructing a haunted house and exploring the spooky castle!

Great teamwork all round!
