Partnering Children on their Developmental Journey

Happy Halloween!

Ratheniska

Now that we have reached mid-term, we can look back on the first two months of the school year and credit ourselves and the staff for all we have achieved in those two months. During the last week, we have been getting into  Halloween mode as we crafted, carved, discoed and dressed up. Head over to the Gallery page to see lots of photos and to the Parents Association page to see even more!

Happy Halloween!

The boys and girls from 5th and 6th Classes along with their parents and many other supporters descended on O’Moore Park on Wednesday to contest the Football Finals. The Girls took on Holy Family Senior School, Portlaoise while the boys pitted their skills against Scoil Bhríde, Portlaoise. While not bringing home any silverware, they all played their hearts in thrilling and hard-fought games. Congratulations once again to the boys and girls, to Mr Conway and to Mr O’Mahony on reaching the finals.

Fly me to the moon!

Ratheniska

Junior Infants have been exploring their place in the Solar System this week. All discussion was about what’s up in space, could you ever reach a star, what it’s like on the moon etc. We listened to the story “Papa, Please get the Moon for me” by Eric Carle and we looked at “Meg on the Moon” With all this in mind , we decided to make our very own rockets and imagined what it would be like to meet the Man in the Moon!

Scarecows and Leaves in Seniors!

Ratheniska

As the environment around our school is filled with beautiful Autumn colours, Senior Infants set about re-creating Autumn in the classroom. First of all, they designed and constructed scarecrows and after that they took their inspiration from autumn leaves to create their own leaves with card and oil pastels using a technique called sgraffito. They were more than pleased with their efforts!
