Clues were written, eggs were hidden and off we went with our big buddies from 4th, 5th and 6th Classes on egg hunts, scavenger hunts and many more Easter related activities – a truly great start to the Easter Holiday season!
We will return to school for Term 3 on Monday, April 25th at 9.10am.
Wishing you all a very happy and safe Easter!
With Easter Sunday not too far away, Rang 5 got thinking that they should practise their baking skills with a view to creating some sweet treats for their families! A bake off was set up by Ms Sugrue and away the went! They worked in groups, researched their recipes and took to the kitchen. After an extremely busy hour, their set up their creations ready for adjudication. Tensions were high as the adjudicators passed by each table, took notes and made their final decision!
Which creation would you pick??
On Thursday, April 7th, 20 boys and girls from Rang 2, gathered in the Church of the Holy Cross in Ratheniska to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance along with Monsignor Byrne, their parents and Mrs O’Byrne, their teacher.
They are now looking forward to the Sacrament of the Eucharist on Saturday May 21st at 12 noon.
In Rang a hAon, we have been working on procedural writing over the past few weeks. We made giant chocolate buttons , we wrote the procedure, but the best part was left until last – eating them!
Rang 6 have been studying the Strand of Environmental Awareness and Care during their SESE classes recently. They took the hands-on approach, got their litter pickers and bags and set off around the local roads. While they did collect some bits and pieces, they were very pleased and encouraged to find that the area around Ratheniska NS is relatively litter-free. Let’s keep it that way!
As the sun was shining brightly, Juniors Infants set off on a walk in the locality looking for signs of Spring. We didn’t have to go too far before we spotted daffodils, buds, catkins, dandelions and even a ladybird! On the way back, we were so lucky to meet our neighbour, Les, who showed us a nest that a blackbird had made in a cardboard box in his shed! Thank you, Les – a great experience!
