Partnering Children on their Developmental Journey

Welcome!

Ratheniska

On May 19th, 22 eager little ones came to have their first taste of “Big School” for an hour or so. They quickly settled in and tried out lots of toys. They didn’t even seem to miss their Mams or Dads who disappeared for a while to get a briefing on our school. Many thanks to the Parents’ Council who provided refreshments to all.

The Well.

Ratheniska

In Junior Infants we like to go out and explore our local environment in Ratheniska. This week while discussing the theme of water, we went for a short walk to see the well. Most pass it every day so it was great to have a look at it close up. Everybody agreed that it was “Cool”!

Senior Infants have had their thinking caps on to create a bed for their favourite teddy. The boys and girls were busy collecting materials for their project. Once the beds were completed, the teddies enjoyed a sleepover in Ratheniska school on Monday and Tuesday nights. Everyone reported that the teddies slept very well in their new creations.

6th Class – The Art of Notan

Ratheniska

6th Class have just finished a lesson on the art of Notan. Notan, which means “lightness and darkness” is all about creating balance and positive/negative spaces working together. I hope you agree that the class’s patience and attention to detail paid off. Well done!

5th Class Little Monsters

Last week we had great fun in Fifth Class modelling our “Little Monsters”. It was tricky at times trying to keep all the bits and pieces, such as evil eyes, treacherous teeth and wicked wings, in place but we got there. We’ll keep you posted as to how they turn out when we paint them.
