It was World Book Day on the 7th March and the children had a lovely time getting together from different classes and reading and talking about the books they love. As well as books, there were also some themed costumes and cakes to be seen!

Some coaches from Park Ratheniska GAA gave up their time last Friday to give the children some tips on their Gaelic skills. Great fun was had by all!

We recently had a visit from Tony Baloney, compliments of the Parents Association, and the children from the middle classes were awed and amazed by the information and demonstrations he did. Have a look at the video below.

On Friday February 23th, our Confirmation candidates from 6th Class joined with the pupils from The Heath NS and Gaelscoil Phortlaoise in SS Peter and Paul’s Church to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Along with the priests of the parish, Bishop Denis Nulty welcomed all the candidates, their families and sponsors. Following the ceremony, photos were taken and memories were made as everyone celebrated with family and friends. Thank you to Mr. Conway for preparing the boys and girls for the occasion.

Third Class and Mr. Lawlor were busy building and testing their own parachute designs in class and outside in some snowy showers. They were exploring air resistance and how well their parachutes would protect an egg on its journey to the ground.
