Partnering Children on their Developmental Journey

Goodbye to Mrs Stapleton.

Ratheniska

We all got together today on the last day of our school year to say goodbye to Mrs Stapleton who has been teaching in our school for 37 years. We all have many memories of Mrs Stapleton and she has touched the  hearts and minds of many, many children throughout her teaching career, We wish her all the very best as she closes the door on one chapter of her life. As she moves on to the next chapter, we hope she will be happy and healthy whichever road she takes.

Go dtéigh tú slán!

We went on a Bear Hunt!

Ratheniska

In Junior Infants we finished off our  school year by reading the story “We’re going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen. Then we headed off on our very own Bear Hunt in the pitch where we went searching for our bears which had previously been hidden by some of our 6th Class buddies. We finished off with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic and had some fun playing games with the parachute.

Sports Day 2019

Ratheniska

Sports Day has come again and, as usual, we all had great fun running, jumping, sackracing, falling over each other and trying to win the trickiest one of all-the egg and spoon race! Have a look at the video below and then click here to see some more of the action on our Gallery page.

Class to 1K

Ratheniska

Following in the footsteps of the older boys and girls, Juniors, Seniors, 1st and 2nd classes took to the GAA pitch today to run 1K. We have been building our fitness levels since Easter thanks to our Acti-AM sessions each morning. We were well ready to run a full kilometre and it was much easier than we thought as it had been set up as an obstacle course by Ms Sugrue and her team of eager helpers!

Here comes Summer!

Ratheniska

We had a fun-filled night at our Summer Disco in the hall on Wednesday night. Thank you to all our Mams and Dads in the Parents’ Association for organising it for us. Click here to see all the action!

Summer Disco 2019

Ratheniska

We held our Summer Disco on Wednesday evening and all the boys and girls enjoyed bopping to the music with their friends as they count down the days to the Summer Holidays. A huge thank you to all the parents who set up and supervised the successful evening.

Class to 3K 2019

Ratheniska

Following over a month’s training and exercise, all classes from 3rd to 6th travelled to Emo Court today for our annual Class to 3k . We warmed up , set off at our own pace and all finished with many personal bests being achieved. We always surprise ourselves with what we can achieve when we set our minds to it and we are very pleased with our fitness levels after all our efforts.

Head on over to the Gallery page to see all the action!

A walk to Loughihoe

Ratheniska

3rd Class took to the outdoors to explore the flora and fauna of the local environment. We went up the hill to see what plants and creatures are on our doorstep. We took our ipads with us to record what we found. We soon forgot about the technology and just enjoyed exploring and observing!

How to earn a Homework Pass!

Ratheniska

During the Month of May, the Green Schools Committee launched a new initiative to get the children in the school engaged in all things green. This was the Question of the Week which was collected by two Travel Whizzes from each class from the committee’s room. As soon as the questions were brought back to the classes, the answers were written down and returned as quickly as possible. A winner was picked out from each class and the lucky winners were rewarded with a homework pass. Such was the enthusiasm for this that we intend to continue it in September as soon as homework season starts again!
