Easter Fun!

Ratheniska

As we approached the Easter holidays this week, we were very busy with Easter treasure hunts, crafting, and a very enjoyable visit from the Easter Bunny!

Check out our video to get a short snapshot of just some of our activities. Then, you can head on over to the Parents’ Association Page for all the photos of the big bunny and winners of the raffle.

Happy Easter!

Ratheniska

On Wednesday March 29th, the Ratheniska Parents Association held an Easter raffle. We had a very special visitor who came to the school and help us with the raffle. There was great excitement as the Easter Bunny met each class. We had winners from each class along with a class raffle. The children and families did a great job selling lines for the raffle and we will have the final count on the amount that was raised soon. The money raised will be going directly to the school to help with ongoing costs and skills development. Wishing all the families of Ratheniska National school a Happy Easter and don’t forget to drop into the Community Hall after Mass on Easter Sunday for a cup of tea and a sweet treat.

Spring has Sprung!

Ratheniska

Spring is in the air and in Junior Infants we put on our coats and went out and about looking for signs of Spring in the school environment. We didn’t find any nests but decided to make our own when we got back to class!

World Down Syndrome Day 2023

Ratheniska

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is celebrated annually on the 21st of March and is a global awareness day that has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.

We happily joined the nationwide awareness campaign by wearing colourful socks to school today. We had discussions about the uniqueness of each and everyone. Thank you to all the boys and girls who contributed 2 euro for our fundraiser for the local Down Syndrome branch.

Happy Mother’s Day

An Céili Mór 2023

Ratheniska

We finished off a very successful Seachtain na Gaeilge with a Céilí Mór  today. Firstly, we marched and waved our flags in our parade all the way to the church and back. Then, we all gathered together in the school yard to sing and dance our way through the afternoon.

We hope you enjoy our little video that gives a flavour of the day!

Lá Fhéile Shona daoibh go léir!

Na Leipreacháin

Ratheniska

Seachtain na Gaeilge atá ann an tseachtain seo. Chaith Rang 6 leathlá leis na Naíonáin Shinsearacha ag déanamh leipreachán . Bhí an Ghaeilge agus an tEalaín fite fuaite lena chéile an t-am ar fad. Ceapaimid go léir go bhfuil na leipreacháin ar fheabhas!

Seachtain na Gaeilge – Peataí Caillte!

Ratheniska

Bhíomar  an-ghnóthach ar fad i Rang 3 i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge. Chuireama ár bpeataí i bhfolach agus scríobhamar fógraí beaga chun cur síos a dhéanamh ar ár bpeataí caillte. Ansin, bhi orainn dul timpeall na scoile chun iad a fháil ar ais.

Bhaineamar an-taitneamh as!

Springtime on the Farm

Ratheniska

Juniors and Seniors were delighted to welcome back a former pupil today as we explore the theme of Springtime on the Farm. Brendan brought his New Holland tractor for a hands-on lesson with the boys and girls. He gave each one of us a bag of barley and explained how it is sown. He gave us lots of insights into his work as a farmer and remembered fondly his time in Junior Infants many years ago when he drove his pretend tractor around the yard at playtime!
