Visit from Stradbally Fire Service
RatheniskaNot only did Santa arrive by fire engine, but the lads from the Fire Service were very generous with their time and allowed the children to look at the truck and climb on board. It was both exciting and interesting to see the truck up close.
Santa’s Visit to the School
RatheniskaThe screech of sirens…The jingle of bells…It must be Santa arriving by Fire Engine! We had a wonderful visit from Santa recently where all the boys and girls got to meet the great man. Each class got to spend some time with him to share stories and hear all about his preparations for Christmas. Santa was helped out by members of the Parents Association and each child was given a wonderful class photo and a Folens Christmas annual. Santa also revealed the winners of the Parents Association art competition. It was a lovely day and everyone enjoyed it very much.

Míle Buíoch Duit, Mr. O’Mahony
RatheniskaToday, October 27th, marked the official end of the teaching career of our esteemed teacher, colleague and friend, Mr. O’Mahony. Mr. O’Mahony has taught in our school since 2007 and during those years, he imparted his fantastic love of Gaeilge, History, Maths and much more to the many boys and girls he taught. He mentored many Cumann na mBunscol teams alongside Mr. Conway and he always offered a kind word to all he met. While he may be back for some time before Christmas, we would like to take this oppotunity to wish him a very happy and heathy retirement.
Happy Halloween!
RatheniskaSpooks, ghouls and scary creatures were in plentiful supply in school today as we celebrated the end of the first half term. Click on the picture here to see some of what we got up to!
Halloween Fun in Seniors
RatheniskaOur weekly buddy session with 5th class was great fun today as we got together to have lots of Halloween fun. We enjoyed playing some traditional games and games we invented ourselves.
Lines and Angles in 3rd
RatheniskaIn 3rd Class, we all agree that active learning in Maths always makes more sense to us than simply writing in our copies! Our topic this week is “Shapes, Lines and Angles”. We learned about acute and obtuse angles and demonstrated our understanding in lots of different ways.
Cumann na mBunscol Update
RatheniskaFollowing several games played by the boys and girls in the Cumann na mBunscol competition, we are delighted to say that the girls have won all their matches and are looking forward to the final while the boys won all their games except one and are in the playoff. Both their opponents have yet to be announced. We hope they add to the silverware already in the foyer!
