Ratheniska National School

Partnering Children on their Developmental Journey

Slán!

Ratheniska

The term has come to an end, so today we all gathered together to raise our 3rd green flag which we had been working for all year. We also said goodbye to Ms Reid who has been with us for ten years. We wish her and her family all the very best in the future.

We will return to school on September 3rd. Click here if you would like to view your booklist for the year ahead.

Elderflowers in 4th!

Ratheniska

We went out in the lovely sunshine to pick some elderflowers and then set about making elderflower cordial. We boiled the elderflowers in some water with sugar and lemon. We made sure to shake the elderflowers to get rid of any bugs! We strained it through some muslin, let it cool and finally mixed it with sparkling water before we sat back and enjoyed our lovely homemade Summer drink!

Disco Kidz!

Ratheniska

Thank you to the Parent’s Association for organising a brilliant end-of-year disco for us on Wednesday night. After running around all day for Sports Day, we thought we wouldn’t be able for it, but when we got to the hall, which was so well decorated, we danced , sang and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If only we didn’t have to go to school the day after!!

Summer Disco 2018

Ratheniska

Our final event of the school year was very successful and great fun, as we got in the mood for Summer at our annual Summer Disco. We bopped and rocked the night away, said farewell to 6th class and looked forward to many great events in the coming year.

Thank you to all parents and children for your support, cooperation and help during the year. We look forward to working with you all again next year!

Farewell to Rang 6

Ratheniska

We visited the school today and presented the outgoing 6th class with a hoody each, which we hope they will wear with pride as they remember their eight years in Ratheniska NS. Go n-eirí an bóthar libh!

The End is Near!

Ratheniska

As we come to the end of Term 3, the Parents’Association presented Rang 6 with very stylish hoodies as a memento of their time in Ratheniska NS. All the boys and girls have been reminiscing about their time in school and, under the guidance of Ms. Dempsey, they created very funny and inventive dioramas of some of their memories. Click here to see what they remembered most from their eight years of primary education.

Sports Day 2018

Ratheniska

We all made our way to the GAA pitch today for our eagerly awaited Sports Day. Even though the sun didn’t make an appearance we had great fun running, falling, jumping and getting lots of exercise.

Thank you to Ms Dunne for organising the ice-cream- it was delicious!

What a lot of coins!

Ratheniska

We searched in moneyboxes, under cushions, in the car and many other places to find coins for the coin collection organised by the Parents’ Association. We spent a few weeks filling the gigantic vases in school, we watched to see who had the most and as the closing date for the collection approached, the excitement was palpable – which class would get pizza for lunch as a reward for having collected the most coins?

And the winners are…… Junior Infants!

A big thank you to the Parents’ Association from 26 hungry little ones!

Happy Fathers’ Day 2018

Ratheniska

Dads took centrestage during all Visual Arts classes this week as the boys and girls set about creating something special for the  men in their lives. So, along with 4th Class, we would like to wish all Dads, Grandads and Guardians a very happy Fathers’ Day!

Run, walk, jog!

Ratheniska

Following on from the Class to 3K for the Senior classes, all the other students from Junior Infants to 3rd Class ran, walked and jogged 1km around the GAA pitch on Friday. We encouraged one another along the way and it was great to see the older pupils helping out the younger ones when the going got tough!

A huge thank you to Ms Sugrue for encouraging us to improve our fitness levels .
