Safer Internet Day (SID) is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users. It is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education and Webwise. We recognised this very important day in all classes in various ways . The boys and girls in the Senior classes discussed a range of issues with Ms Craven, our IT tutor, and their class teachers. They talked about digital citizenship, our digital footprint, cyberbullying, oversharing and much more. Those in the Junior end of the school talked about the concept of the internet and how we should always use the internet under parental supervision. Stories such as those from the Digiduck collection served to illustrate the advantages, disadvantages and dangers that young children may encounter. Some artwork followed and we all went home with a renewed motivation to stay safe online.
