Pampered Pets!

During the month of February, Junior Infants have been exploring the theme of pets. We played with pets during Aistear, we discussed how to care for pets during SPHE, we did oral presentations about our pets to the class and , of course, we had a visit from our resident pet, Rosie!

Safer Internet Day 2022

Safer Internet Day (SID) is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users. It is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education and Webwise. We recognised this very important day in all classes in various ways . The boys and girls in the Senior classes discussed a range of issues with Ms Craven, our IT tutor, and their class teachers. They talked about digital citizenship, our digital footprint, cyberbullying, oversharing and much more. Those in the Junior end of the school talked about the concept of the internet and how we should always use the internet under parental supervision. Stories such as those from the Digiduck collection served to illustrate the advantages, disadvantages and dangers that young children may encounter. Some artwork followed and we all went home with a renewed motivation to stay safe online.

Sarah is a busy lady these days as she leads the Children’s Choir in Portlaoise and trains many young up and coming singers to achieve their potential. The boys and girls from 1st to 6th are learning songs from various genres in both Irish and English. We are delighted to have Sarah on our team!

St Brigid’s Day 2022

St Brigid’s crosses were created, we learned about the traditions around St Brigid’s Day, we recounted the story of St Brigid’s cloak and of course we sang a song to Brigid!
