Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
2nd in Emo.
RatheniskaRang 2 visited the woods in Emo Court today. Oisín’s Dad, Ger and his colleague from Coillte guided us around and showed us many things which we would never have noticed if we were on our own. We learned all about the plant life in Emo and we had our lunch in the natural amphitheatre which is situated amongst the trees.
Class to 3K -2018
Ratheniska4th, 5th and 6th Classes started training for the now annual Class to 3k after Easter. We trained along with our teachers twice weekly. Many of us thought we would never be able to run three kilometres, so it was with trepidation for some and excitement for others that we set off for Emo Court today, Wednesday 13th June. The excitement built when we arrived and saw the starting point that had been erected by the teachers beforehand.
Off we set, cheered on by some of our parents and some bemused onlookers. We were spurred on as we ran by some inspiring and motivational signs and it wasn’t long before we raced through the finish line. What a sense of achievement for one and all!
To end the day, we were presented with a lovely hoodie which we will wear proudly in honour of our new-found fitness levels.
A walk to Dysart Enos.
Ratheniska4th class took to the outdoors yesterday to learn a bit more about our local area. We walked to Dysart Enos graveyard which dates back to the 18th century.. On the way we searched for some plants and flowers in the hedgerow. We wandered through the graveyard and were amazed at how old some of them were. We sat and did some sketching of the lovely countryside around us and we agreed, on our return to school, that learning outdoors is thoroughly enjoyable for all of us.
Teddy Bears’ Picnic 2018
RatheniskaIn Juniors, we brought our Teddies to school for our annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic. We read the story “We’re going on a Bear Hunt” before we set off , we followed the clues to get us to where we wanted to go and after our “picnic”, we played some games with our teddies, the footballs and the parachute.
Lots of fun in Lullymore
Ratheniska3rd and 4th Classes finished off the school tour season with a trip to Lullymore Heritage Park. We explored the flora and fauna in the area, we visited reconstructions of buildings from various points of Irish history, we took a train ride out to the bog and we had great fun in Fionn Mac Cumhaill’s adventure playground.
