Back to School 2020

Ratheniska

As the country starts to open up again, our thoughts in Ratheniska National School are turned towards opening of school for Term 1 . All staff in Ratheniska have been busy preparing for a return to school . The school has been deep cleaned and preparations have been made to make the school a safe space for all . We are hoping to be given the go ahead to reopen on Thursday August 27th . You will receive information detailing how the return to school will happen in August . This information will be based on the best advice made available to us from the DES . Information  previously posted for parents of Junior Infants can be accessed here.

In the meantime enjoy the summer break as best you can and if you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact the school office at ratheniskans@eircom.net

To assist Junior Infants 2020 with joining us at Ratheniska NS we have prepared a short film  which you can access by clicking on the picture below. Please encourage your child to become familiar with the film before the return to school .

The last week of school is a very unusual one for this year’s 6th Class as they finish up their primary school education in Ratheniska. They will have many memories of their eight years with us and this is a snapshot of just some of them! Click here or on the image below to reminisce!

Congratulations to our Green School Committee!

Ratheniska

As we all continue to teach and learn at home, Mr Fennelly has been collating and finalising our Green School Committee’s application for our fourth Green Flag. The theme for this Green Flag is Travel and this theme aims to increase awareness around modes of transport which are less damaging to the environment and ways of reducing our carbon footprint. We undertook many activities and research over the last year and a half  and we are delighted to say that we will now be flying our new flag in the coming school year. We would like to thank the hardworking boys and girls on the committee and Mr Fennelly for coordinating their efforts. A new committee will be formed in the first term of our new school year and we look forward to working on the theme of biodiversity.

Homework June 8th-26th

Ratheniska

Well done to all pupils and families for continuing to share your wonderful work. The next rotation of homework will focus on more outdoor work and of course reading! Once again you are advised to be circumspect in your approach to the work.

Please also continue to practice and reinforce good habits around social distancing and handwashing. These good social habits will be significant when return to school comes about.

We welcome Mrs Dooley back to work this month and bid Ms Treacy a fond farewell.  Along with all other teachers, Mrs Dooley will be available on the class e-mail and on Seesaw for all your class-related queries.
