Partnering Children on their Developmental Journey

A visit to the Theatre

Ratheniska

The boys and girls in 6th class  had a very cultural few days recently. They paid two visits to The Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise with their Literacy teachers, Ms. Stapleton and Ms. Dempsey. Their first visit was to watch a documentary  entitled “He named me Malala”. They learned about Malala, a Pakastani teenager who was shot by a Taliban gunman on her way home from school in 2012. Their second visit was to “Me, Mollser”, a production by the Abbey Theatre. Mollser brought to life an overcrowded Dublin tenement during the 1916 Rising. A lively question and answer session brought each production to a very successful conclusion.
