Partnering Children on their Developmental Journey

Jelly on a Plate

As Juniors are approaching the end of their very first term in Primary School, what better way to celebrate than to tuck into a plate of wobbly jelly! Of course it was also a fun way to reinforce our Jolly Phonics sound of this week which is J!Jelly on a Plate

Feeling Good, Painting Pottery

Last week saw the beginning of our Christmas preparations when 4th class went to The Pottery House in Ratheniska. Hosted by Kate Ramsbottom, each child had the opportunity to design a seasonal tile. This was a very relaxing experience and everyone had great fun even the 1 and a half kilometre walk around the roads proved to be really exciting.

Meet our Three Tiny Turtles!

Ratheniska N.S. welcomed three new pets to our school last week. The arrival of the three turtles, named Yoda, Turbo and Squirt, has been met with much excitement and an eagerness to learn all about our new reptile friends! 2nd class are learning all about these turtles as well as learning the responsibilities that come along with taking care of a pet. The picture above shows Turbo sunbathing on the basking area in the tank.

Super Reporters!

In the short few weeks since starting school, Junior Infants have developed into super reporters! This week , their task was to bring something from home that begins with the letter “s”. They really stepped up to the task and enjoyed reporting on objects ranging from Spongebob and a  sliotar, to Santa and a s-s-snakes and ladders game and many others in between. Well done to all for their imaginative contributions, Junior Reporters

A lovely day for Lemonade!

Senior Infants have been busy learning how to make their own butter and lemonade this week with very tasty results. We definitely have some budding Masterchef contestants in the making!

Science Week!

Fifth Class joined in with all the fun of Science Week by demonstrating their ‘explosive’ experiments. Science Week!

Time for a sleepover!

In Junior Infants we love to play and make new friends. The latest addition to our play area is our “bedroom”! It didn’t take long for some of the cailini  to plan a mini sleepover !Sleepover!
